Creative Mondays 217 – The Valley

What is Creative Mondays?

Monday’s are always a drag. The start of a new week, you have to go back to that routine of going to bed early/get up early. If (like me) you have to commute then you prepare for that long journey into work and that long journey back for the first time after a nice two day break.

So to kick off those lousy Mondays, I’m going to get my creative mind flowing in a positive way. Creative Mondays. A chance for me to show off something unfinished or finished that I’ve been working on throughout the previous week.”

Although there’s a greater amount of ‘fan art’ consisting of movie/comic book characters on this blog, every now and then I like to throw in something more original. Pinterest is usually where I find my inspiration for these illustrations, there’s so much concept art out there it’s incredible.

So with a little concept art style in mind I created this valley landscape with a traveller in search of a tower in the distance. This piece was created entirely within Photoshop, building up the layers and textures and focusing on the light source at the centre of the composition. As with most Monday’s creations this could become a bit of a series, another one of those ideas for the backburner.
