“What is Creative Mondays?

Monday’s are always a drag. The start of a new week, you have to go back to that routine of going to bed early/get up early. If (like me) you have to commute then you prepare for that long journey into work and that long journey back for the first time after a nice two day break.

So to kick off those lousy Mondays, I’m going to get my creative mind flowing in a positive way. Creative Mondays. A chance for me to show off something unfinished or finished that I’ve been working on throughout the previous week.”

Some weeks there just isn’t enough time to get done what you want to do.  The paid work takes priority and the 9-5 is equally as busy so free time can be hard to come by. This situation is pretty common within the design industry and I’ve been really lucky that I (for the most part) have had the time to experiment and try new things. Unfortunately this week wasn’t one of those lucky times. But no matter! Thankfully I have something I created earlier.

Back in the summer I was contacted by the folks at Mashable to create a photo manipulation piece for their site. They had seen my previous animal manipulations and thought it would be a cool idea to create a small Photoshop tutorial on how I would put two animals together. Jumping at the chance I got to work on an idea that was thrown my way and that’s where the Slorgi (Sloth/Corgi) was born!

The tutorial was used and posted up on their site and you can check it out here! It’s not something I’ve ever done before and it was interesting to try and break down my creative process step-by-step. One thing I’ve learned, label those Photoshop layers!!
