Creative Mondays 188 – Moving Home

“What is Creative Mondays?

Monday’s are always a drag. The start of a new week, you have to go back to that routine of going to bed early/get up early. If (like me) you have to commute then you prepare for that long journey into work and that long journey back for the first time after a nice two day break.

So to kick off those lousy Mondays, I’m going to get my creative mind flowing in a positive way. Creative Mondays. A chance for me to show off something unfinished or finished that I’ve been working on throughout the previous week.”

It’s been an exciting and busy seven days since my last post. Packing boxes, organising furniture, setting up my new office in my brand new home! Yep, super excited to announce the headquarters of Creative Mondays has itself a little office space in a house all of it’s own! My old flat (rented for ten years!) will certainly be missed, mainly for it’s ideal location near the sea but my wife and I simply outgrew the space and needed an upgrade.

So this week has been a pretty big change in a lot of ways and thinking of something to post this week was kinda challenging. Do I create something in Photoshop around the move? Do I ignore what’s going on around me and finish that damn ‘Wonders of the Universe’ (it’s coming soon) series?  As I was reflecting and looking for inspiration I often check through any photos I’ve taken and two shots stood out to me. The first was within my flat as we were cleaning it out and I had a moment to sit and stare out the window thinking about the last ten years and the second was on one of my many trips around the waterfront and seeing the one landmark that has always been around me, Smeaton’s Tower.

As much as I will miss my old flat, I look forward to the future and the exciting times ahead!

Creative Mondays 26 – Welcome to Plymouth

So I’m setting the scene. You have the first day of the Olympic Torch relay from Land’s end to Plymouth Hoe, you have 55,000 people in Plymouth and on the very last stage you have a young girl (Madeleine Wood) run past those same 55,000 to the ‘Chariot’s of Fire’ theme song. In my head it sounded like kind of a cheesy thing to do but it fit perfectly. The atmosphere was great, the weather wasn’t that bad and it really is a once in a lifetime opportunity to see a part of the Olympic experience up close!

As one of those 55,000 I was there celebrating that day. I even got a chance to hold one of the torches much to my wife’s clever persuasion tactics of basically staring the torch staff down (with a smile) until they relented! I managed to get a few shots of the event but as the crowds were so big I didn’t get a decent view of the torch bearer running the last stage. Thankfully my imagination can fill in the rest and that’s what completes this week’s Creative Mondays piece!
