What is Creative Mondays?

Monday’s are always a drag. The start of a new week, you have to go back to that routine of going to bed early/get up early. If (like me) you have to commute then you prepare for that long journey into work and that long journey back for the first time after a nice two day break.

So to kick off those lousy Mondays, I’m going to get my creative mind flowing in a positive way. Creative Mondays. A chance for me to show off something unfinished or finished that I’ve been working on throughout the previous week.”

So this rounds off about a months worth of ‘concept art’ valley illustrations. I do have a few more sketches that I haven’t shared in this collection but for now I think I’ve got my set. I want to look back over the last few and see if there are any changes I can make and then put out the series. There’s a lot more to learn from this style but it’s great to have a play and see where it ends up.

This ‘Valley’ or ‘Explorers’ set that I’ve been cooking up over the past weeks has my attention. I don’t want to try anything else at the moment until I’ve got all these ideas out.

This time around we’re going deep under the ice. It’s great to play around with the different textures that each setting has brought with it. There’s plenty more to come, I may take a week off of this stuff soon… maybe.

Another Christmas is upon us and it’s time to unwind, pull ourselves away from our brightly glowing devices and spend some time with the family. This year however, the location for my family Christmas will be a little different. I’ll be spending the holidays under the warmth of the Sicilian sun!

So as a little way to keep that classic Christmas feeling around this year I put together this Winter Wonderland piece, complete with snowman and the Northern Lights! Happy Holidays everyone!

I’ve been inspired by a lot of silhouette work recently and most of it has resulted in posters of Marvel Superheroes or video games. This week I thought I’d create my own scene plucked from my very own head.

The tower and house are based on reference images to get the angle/perspective correct and I thought I’d inject some awesome sunset colours into the background scenery for good measure! I’m loving this style because it gives me a chance to work with foreground and background colours in order to create a depth to the image.
