Creative Mondays 147 – Reflection

Reflection 35 Double Exposure

“What is Creative Mondays?

Monday’s are always a drag. The start of a new week, you have to go back to that routine of going to bed early/get up early. If (like me) you have to commute then you prepare for that long journey into work and that long journey back for the first time after a nice two day break.

So to kick off those lousy Mondays, I’m going to get my creative mind flowing in a positive way. Creative Mondays. A chance for me to show off something unfinished or finished that I’ve been working on throughout the previous week.”

This week’s been a pretty busy one and with it rounding off with my birthday on Saturday! I didn’t consider this birthday a milestone in any way but birthday’s are often a time of reflection and I thought I’d create a few double exposures of myself and Iceland, where I was born 35 years ago on October 4th, 1979.

Creative Mondays 33 – Days of Decadence

Days of Decadence Illustration

Just this weekend my younger sister turned the big 30. Hopefully I won’t get into trouble for broadcasting that on the Internet but I’ll take the hit for art. For her birthday she decided to have a 1920’s theme party entitled ‘The Days of Decadence’.  Gangsters and Flappers arrived and the party was a success. There was even a couple of breakout performances of the Charleston if my memory serves correctly!

So inspiration hit and I decided that for this week’s Creative Mondays a bit of 1920’s Art Deco would do the trick. This illustration was created using Illustrator and a photo my wife took of my sister on her birthday. Took around 4 hours and it’s pushed me just over the “Monday” mark but I’m going to let it slide this time.

Happy Birthday Jess!
